What, another banger at The Big Blue with Rockwell… oh Pablo, you are spoiling us. Supporting your local venues is where it’s at!

ABOUT ROCKWELL

Now residing in North London via Bristol and Cardiff, Rockwell has become prolific in a very short amount of time due to a series of strong productions, each taking a fresh and different approach to the drum and bass blueprint. Dynamite MC – Big Man Talk 1 & 2

Facebook | Dynamite MC

Do yourself a favour and get yourself over to Dynamite MC’s Facebook page for music free-ness! Two, yes TWO album/mix tapes and believe me, if you like UK hip hop then you will love these. Probably most notoriously known as working with Roni Size fronting Reprazent along side Onallee and now an amazing solo artist with a couple of albums under his belt.

I’m on my third or fourth listen to Big Man Talk 1 and it still blows me away that he’s given these away for free. Much respect.

Phace & Misanthrop – From Deep Space LP

Phace & Misanthrop – From Deep Space LP information | S.T. Holdings Ltd.

I can’t really tell you more than I’m really excited about this album!

‘From Deep Space’ was featured recently on the Hospital Records Podcast (105) with a couple of tunes available to listen to on Youtube. From the sound of the Medley made available by Neosignal, it’s sounds like Ed Rush & Optical’s Wormhole has been eaten by a sub-sonic monster, brought up to date and spat out in the form of one of the most slick album release of the year so far.

Highly Interesting from High Contrast

Via the KMag Website

I’m only half way through reading this and I think it’s the most influential interview I’ve read and an essential read for anyone wanting to get into producing. I’m only a wannabe producer at the moment but I just feel so inspired after reading this. It’s also a sneaky insight into the inspiration into the tracks you thought you knew what they were about ;) It’s quite a long and in depth interview so grab a cuppa (it’s cold out there tonight) and have a butchers!

DJ Marky & Friends Presents: MAKOTO

Ok, I’m a bit of a fan of Makoto and his style of DnB so when I was asked to review his new compilation album, I jumped at the chance. You know it’s gonna be good when you have Makoto picking the tunes ;)

DJ Marky & Friends Presents: Makoto is out TODAY (12th Oct) and from the tracklisting, it looks like a blinder! Shed loads of ‘good-time rollers’ and feel good tuneage. If you want an album to cheer you up now the winter nights are drawing in then this is definitely an album to make you feel good.

1984 – Alix Perez

Link: 1984 – Alix Perez

Y’know what? I was really surprised when I listened to some of the tracks on here, I was expecting something completely different. It’s mature, techy, moves away from the “I’ll make some dubstep so I’m down with the kids” trait and just sounds like a well established producer bringing only the best cuts to their album. It’s almost setting a benchmark for all the Producers out there who want to release an album as diverse as this.

Mine’s on pre-release order from Drum & Bass Arena for the bargain price of £6.99 plus there’s a exclusive track available too. Get it done!

Knowledge | Producer Profile: Syncopix

Link: Knowledge | Producer Profile: Syncopix

“What’s the key to producing drum & bass?

The key to an original d&b production is listening to as much music as possible for inspirations and then doing sound analyzing on your favourite drum & bass vinyl. Your brain finds a way to combine all kinds of genres and make something new out of it. You should have a feeling for broken beats on high speed”

The new Knowledge Magazine is packed full of back issues, blogs, news and splendid interviews such as the recent one with Syncopix aka The Producer’s Producer. It’s definitely a valuable read if you’re wanting to get into producing or even if you’re already knocking out some decent tuneage.
