Lounge Design Haus
– Flash Site – http://formandfunktion.co.uk/Portfolio/Lounge/lounge.html

  • Site designed by Lounge Design Haus
  • Flash lovingly coded by SubVee
  • HTML & Flash

So what’s all this about? Well this is one of my Flash sites which was a pain to build but looking back, it’s a pretty snazzy site. It was a huge project for little ol’ me but the guys I worked with were excellent. They knew what they wanted (most of the time) and provided all the lovely graphics. I wish I could take credit for the design however it was only the coding that was lovingly crafted by moi.

Unfortunately, these guys are no longer trading which is a shame. Although… if you do want anything, mail me and I’ll pass on your details – info@subvee.com

About SubVee

So who the hell are you?
My name is Caz aka SubVee and I’m based in the Midlands, UK.

Why SubVee, what’s all that about?
Well, SubVee is my alias that I use for my design work, music, writing, web development, photography, clothing design, blogging and geeking about. It’s the fun stuff that I don’t get to do in my 9-5.

Ah right, so you do all kinds of things…
Oh yes! I’ve turned my hand to all kinds of stuff in the past 15 years. Building websites, creating businesses, singing, geeking about with Macs, designing clothes and I’m also into reading marketing books, taking photos of abandoned buildings, I have OCD outbursts when faced with inefficiency and regularly watch people for ideas for my next fashion mistake.

How did you get into it all?
I guess it’s something I’ve always been into from when I was young. I hung out with some hip-hop skater/BMX boys who wore the latest sneakers and always had marker pen on their hands from tagging bus stops. I also had a best friend who was more into fashion design and art than maths so that kinda rubbed off on me too. My Dad bought me a 286 when I was in high school and I was never off the thing.

Growing up in the early ’90s in a small, isolated town in the North East helped in a strange way. I was obsessed with what was passed the A19 so it kinda pushed me out of the regular stuff my peers got up to at the weekend. I wanted to go to raves at the age of 12 and design for Vivienne Westwood. Then the internet come along and I was hooked. I could get my hands on the latest vinyl, trainers and see what the world was doing from my little street house in the Grim North.
I had my first careers interview age 13 and I said I didn’t want to work in an office which translated into ‘oh you want to work outside’ and I was ‘encouraged’ to study Environmental Management at Uni… I really meant I didn’t want a regular job. At Uni, I met a whole load of lovely people who regularly took me to Manchester to fuel my vinyl addiction. Three student loans are sat in my lounge in the form of a 12″ collection of 1990’s D&B and some beat up old turntables.

So what did you do after Uni?
I strangely failed Art and I didn’t even do IT at school so imagine the amazement of my Parents when I said I wanted to go back and study Multimedia at Uni. As far as I was concerned, the internet changed everything and I needed to know everything about it. My pet project was spawned from my course and BMinX was born – a women’s BMX company which took my places I’d never thought I’d get to and I got to meet some of my heroes.
I then started my own business building websites and helping business start-ups. I managed to build a few nice site until I was given a great opportunity to work for a huge company in IT/Service Delivery. My big break into the world of IT!
It’s a good giggle but there’s no real creative side. Unless you class writing process documents in Visio as being arty! I miss getting my crayons out and being creative so I’m always on the look out for design/arty opportunities hence this site and various other bits of me on the net.

Hope you enjoy what you see and let me know if you do.

Thanks for popping over and having a look.
